The Phoenix Centre

The Phoenix Centre is an independent charity in a self contained unit which runs a Specialist Pre-school Nursery for children with an additional need, developmental delay or disability within the borough of Dudley. The Centre is registered with OFSTED (Reference No 253925) and operates within the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework.
The Centre works in partnership with many professionals including ​Integrated Early Years Service, Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, health visitors, educational and medical professionals.

The children’s individual needs are central to the work that we do. Children’s targets are set and reviewed regularly with parents/carers and other professionals supporting the child. We operate an ‘open door’ policy for parents/carers and we hold regular reviews.

Our staff all have qualifications and training in Early Communication, PECS, TEACCH, Intensive Interaction & Makaton. Staff also receives regular ongoing training to support children’s individual needs.

Staff

Due to our ratio of staff to children, we are able to support children to engage in a range of play activities and support their learning and development. All children have a keyworker who will work closely with them and have contact with the child’s parents/carers every day.

Opening Times

The Centre is open for four days a week, term time only, and has places for up to 24 children. No group size is bigger than 12 children.

Morning Sessions Tuesday to Friday 0815 hours to 1200 hours
Afternoon Sessions Tuesday to Friday 1245 hours to 1630 hours
All Day Sessions Tuesday to Friday 0830 hours to 1600 hours

Can You Help?

Volunteers are welcome (subject to DBS, interview and references) to help with the day to day running of our groups.
Fundraisers are always required as we are constantly looking for ways to finance our group.
Running costs for the Centre are over £120,000.00 per year and this is funded by the Charity and grants. 

The Charity that runs the Centre was established in 1972 and is managed by a group of volunteer trustees.
